verFilzt Und zugeNäht: Issue 30
Spring 2011

Since we consider the topic important, we discussed the problem of »copyright« in textile arts and asked renowned felters to answer questions such as: Why copy? Who does it? And what, actually, is a copy?
You should absolutely and legally copy our tutorial for »cuddle-jewellry«, which we puzzled out together both theoretically and practically. Of course, you can add your own signature, i. e. by using other materials or a different surface design.
Our artists’ portraits offer valuable insights in the dyeing pots of textile artist Andrea Ramsauer, in the fashion creations of the label el.vira and Kerstin Bennier’s large-scale felt art, that already caught our eye at the exhibition »the climate is changing«. Further, we delve into the playful, embroidered creations of Corinna Nitschmann and Susanne Kämper’s magical accessories, filigree and fairylike by using silk net lace and felt. Catrin Porsiel creates textile objects and fashion accessories from Gotland pelt sheep wool. And with the colourful tights with screenprint motifs by Fernwaerme you are perfectly prepared for the spring!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback to our new column »sustainability«! This shows us that there is a lot of interest in the subject.
In this issue you find related insights in the article »To Make the World Better«, about the company »Lebenskleidung«.
