The internet is a source of wonderful and inspiring pictures. But saving and sorting these pictures on your computer can be very time consuming. The think is: you don´t have to do that! For the purpose of collecting pictures and arranging pictures in categories, there is the social network Pinterest.

 
Pinterest is free of charge and has many options that ease the work of collecting, sharing and finding great pictures online. After a short registration you can create and “pin” images, videos and other objects to your pinboard. You can choose if your pinboard is private (only visible for yourself) or public.

Pinterest is a great source of inspiration if you use the search function. Each and every picture and pinboard has a title or name which makes it easy to find suitable pictures. You will be amazed how many great pictures you can find and organize in no time. Try searching felt techniques for example and you find an amazing amount of pictures. We suggest to search in German and English – Pinterest has millions of users worldwide!
All of the public pictures can be “re-pinned” onto other pinboards. That way each user can create their own collection of pictures they like. You can also “like” pictures and follow other users on Pinterest. That way you make sure to keep track on what this user is uploading.

In the section of creativity and handicraft the »Abilmente« is the biggest event in Italy with over 50.000 visitors. Next to exhibitions there are workshops and demonstrations in this 4 day event.
Visitors have the possibility to browse through the exhibition, try something new in a workshop and find inspiration at the stalls of the exhibitors. You can find many different creative techniques presented on the »Abilmente«, like scrapbooking, creative sewing, embroidery, patchwork, felt and many more.
Within the studios of the »Abilmente« working space and exhibitions melt together. Visitors can browse through the creations of the artists in the studios or try new things (like techniques or materials) in workshops.
Craft-Lovers should not miss out on the »Abilmente«. The focus is mainly on patchwork, but each and every technique and material for working with wool and yarn will be represented. Have a look at the list of exhibitors and artists on the website!

You can look forward to a diversity of felt making and all of its aspects. We open up an international point of view on artist, exhibitions, workshop and more. And we like to inspire you by giving out a special instruction manual by Inga Dünkelberg-Niemann to make a summerly waterlily-bowl.
We would like to thank all of our readers who sent in pictures for our readers gallery for this summer issue. We had so many transmittals that not all of them found a space in our magazine. For the first time there was a felters meeting in a small town with only 2500 habitants. The very open-minded mayor Frank Harsch has come across felt in 2011 for the first time when a group of felters displayed their creations in town. Thats when the idea of the first felters meeting was born. The meeting should include an exhibition, a sales room, a fashion show and workshops. Claudia Büshel, Doris Kunz and Ella Ziegler developed a holeistic concept. The mayor and Anne Kleiner who works for the local government supported their concept substantially.
12 exhibitors presented their creations among which there where clothes, jewelry, interior designs and accessories, sculptures and tapestries. The community did not look at the felt as an exotic trade, in fact local craftsmen and forgers added their own furnitures, frames and jewelry to the felted creations.
The great choice of workshops was was well received among visitors: »Objects« with Lydia Rump, »Skirt or Top« with Kerstin Scherr, flowerscarfs with Evi Hermann, cushions with Susanne Regen and »Fancy Felting« with  Delia Grimm. The workshops were well-attended and the participants spoke highly of the content of the workshops. Proudly they displayed their own creations.
Material selling and the enriched hands-on program was also well-attended, not only by children. The eldest participants was a 90 year old visitor who felted passionately with her grandchildren.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the fashion show. 12 felt artists from the area displayed their creations. A whole range of different fashion was shown on the runway; soft and rustic, filigree fabrics and interesting material mixes, cheeky colorful and fancy classy designs. The fashion show was amazingly inspiring for more than 400 people who visited.
The hosts of the event had the idea in mind to give people who are interested in felt the opportunity to dive into the matter.
The first Felters Meeting has been of great success and we will see if there will be the Second Edition of it soon.
