Merry and colorful spring themes await you in the current issue of the filzfun: a.o. brightly-colored objects by the British duo Rosiepink, Terese Cato’s wool sculptures with their expressive faces and gossamer fairy wings made by Yasmin Groß. The world of felting and textile art is more vital than ever: Which is reflected in this issue of the filzfun with reports about the first member exhibition of the felt-network (www.filznetzwerk.de), of the Soul of Felt, of the Textile Art Berlin and many more events about felting and wool; it is also reflected with the portraits of creative felt artists as well as in reports about workshops, projects and new meetings in the following year.

 


The Skygazer project by Sigrid Uta von Graevenitz and the instruction for an atmospheric illuminated object by Ute Strunz can both be a source of inspiration for our reader’s creativity. You can also win an online video workshop by Sophia Wagner including the material for felted slippers.

Animalistic, that is a good description of the autumn issue 2016 – adorable “Heartfelt Dogs” by felt artist Von Allen, bags made by Katrin Kümmel, that depict snail shells and sea shells, original “Feestbeesten” for the 25th anniversary of the Dutch Felt Association and crocheted fish made out of plastic foil at the Textile Art Trail in Bergisches Land.
Go see the exhibition “All Felt or What?” at Castle Nideggen and read about exciting workshops, where felt gets plastic structures and naturalfibers are dyed after your ideas in this issue.

The 50th issue of the filzfun is again a real eye opener for felt making this spring. The creations by very different felt artist show how broad and exciting the spectrum of felt design is, all over the world. Felt and concrete can be a really interesting combination, another topic covers the silkworm breeding for the household, and the extraordinary wool quality of the Swedish Fine Wool Sheep is another topic.
Reviews on exhibitions and events show another inspiring bright lights on the colorful felting world. The instruction on making a special bracelet, which can hold small secrets, rounds this 50th spring issue up, with other interesting topics and book reviews.

winter 2015/2016

Creative variety, inspiring ideas and real passion for felt: Those are the ingredients of our winter issue of the filzfun 2015/16!
